The Regional Connector is an alternative transportation project that creates a safer, shorter, and regionally integrated bicycle and pedestrian trail between Beacon Metro Station and Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.
This project builds off the momentum of rescinding the pedestrian/bicycle curfew on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge in 2022 which was achieved by lobbying both New York State Bridge Authority and the Governor.
When realized, the Regional Connector will increase the available recreation opportunities, reduce automobile greenhouse gas pollution, augment employment opportunities, boost regional tourism, and make a critical investment in underserved communities. This project connects and leverages existing regional transportation projects like the Fjord Trail, and Beacon to Hopewell Junction Rail Trail to strengthen sister city connections and increases access to trails throughout the mid-Hudson Valley region.
In summary, this benefits the entire region by linking two counties, five municipalities, 125,000 people and thousands of visitors together through a recreation and alternative transportation network.
