In the spirit of Sukkot, join us for a unique hands-on experience that explores the concept of shelter and sweat equity. Newburgh JCC and Beacon Hebrew Alliance are organizing a Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Day where we will help build a home for a family in Newburgh. A coffee break will be a chance for congregations to meet and mingle and discuss interfaith concepts of shelter.
At 1pm, enjoy a free lunch at JCC Newburgh (290 North Street) and learn about the many amenities that improve the quality of life for both Jews and non-Jews in the Greater Newburgh Area.
At 1:30pm, a special talk, featuring Grannies Respond, will detail the senior activists' journey to the Texas border to fight for human decency.
This is the first of many collaborations between neighboring Jewish communities in the Hudson Valley.
