Thank you for joining past efforts in reimagining Lake Street & Muchattoes Lake as a place to visit, to stay, and to enjoy. Building off of last year's events, we hope you'll join the virtual placemaking, design workshop with Yale Architects.
In adhering to social distancing protocols, we can still do this! This is how: First, familiarize yourself with Lake Street and Muchattoes Lake through a virtual tour produced by Outdoor Promise (link below). Second, review each of the three sites, their context, and choose which site you would like to reimagine (PDF attached).
Now comes the fun-fun part! To make this a design workshop, put your idea, whether grounded in reality or highly imaginative into a drawing or collage or some other visual product. Share what matters to you about this special place in Newburgh. Take a picture and send it to dosmallinterventions@gmail.com by July 31st. Bonus if you provide an explanation!
When looking at the sites, consider these design prompts. what design intervention would propose to make the selected site :
-more accessible?
-more equitable?
-more visible?
-more recreational?
-more sustainable?
-more multipurpose?
-more livable?
-more vibrant?
-more _____?

Depending on how many volunteers, a Yale Architect will be matched to you/your drawing. There will be the option to have a one-on-one call with that person to discuss the proposal.
All collected submissions will make a vibrant, multifaceted tapestry of ideas for Muchattoes Lake's future that Yale Architects will respond to! We are excited to be working closely with Horizons on the Hudson and Newburgh Free Academy's PTech program. An exhibition will be presented in Fall 2020 at the Newburgh Free Library.
